The Synthesis Essay. What is a Synthesis Essay? A synthesis essay is a type of essay that asks you to draw information from a variety of sources and synthesize, or create, an analysis from what you read.; A synthesis essay always involves multiple sources,at least one of them visual.; You don’t have to use all the sources in your final essay, but you should examine them all before making.
Section II of the AP Language and Composition Exam contains three free response questions, which students will have 2 hours and 15 minutes (or 135 minutes) to complete.Section II of the exam accounts for 55% of students scores. It is suggested that students spend: 15 minutes for reading source materials for the synthesis prompt (in the free-response section).

This assignment is based off of the third type of essay you will see on the AP Language and Composition examination. Remember that one of the essays is the analysis essay, and the other is the argument essay. This, the synthesis essay, is essentially a way of bringing the skills of the other two together.
