Brigada Eskwela or the National Schools Maintenance Week is a nationwide initiative by the Department of Education (DepEd) that mobilizes thousands of parents, alumni, civic groups, local businesses, non-government organizations, teachers, students, and individuals who volunteer their time and skills to do repairs, maintenance work, and clean-up of public elementary and secondary schools.

This is after DepEd also conducted a highly successful Oplan Balik Eskwela nationwide last May 15 to 20, 2017. The commonly encountered problems may include issues about students transferring from private school to public school, classroom assignment, power and water supply, peace and order, and Senior High School Voucher Program (SHS VP), among others.

The Department of Education (DepEd) will activate its “Oplan Balik Eskwela” (OBE) Information and Action Center (IAC) from May 27 to 31 to ensure a smooth and organized school opening on June 3.
Brigada Eskwela also known as the Bayanihan sa Paaralan is a nationwide voluntary effort of teachers, parents, students, community members and other organizations to do minor repairs and clean-ups on their school in preparation for the start of the school year. This week long event began in 2003 as part of the Oplan Balik Eskwela Program of the Department of Education.
